Shady Secs

My friend Grishma and I were studying in one of our local libraries today. We were sitting across from each other in one of those study rooms that's filled with the little study carrels. After a while of studying, I got kinda bored and I could hear Grishma shuffling. So I decided to rip out a piece of paper from my notepad, write her a note and throw it over the top to her. She replied back and so began our note writing for the next 20 minutes. Here's how it went (me in Purple, Grishma in Yellow):

How much have you done?

I've read 12 pages -> you?

I've read (and written notes for) 20 pgs. Usually, when I'm writing my notes, my shorthand version of "Securities" is "Secs", so I'm amusing myself when I write things like "Secs Regulation" or "Selling Secs to the Public". Heehee! How immature is that? But hey, it keeps me interested in the studying.

I'm laughing just reading that. Hehe. how the heck have you read & written notes four 20 pgs. This shite is bor-ring! I can't believe I majored in Economics :(. I want to cry it's so dry. Hehe that rhymed. Is your stuff @ least mildly interesting?

Actually, I find this more interesting than the CSC. The reason being is that they get into specific examples of how Investment Advisers break secs laws (heehee!) and then it talks about what they did wrong & how they should've protected themselves & their firm. That's how I got through 20 pages because most of it was just reading the stories.

That's not bad...this talk about the exchange rate & the interest rate & how one affects the other (that's the chapter I'm in) uuggh. So do inv advisers break secs laws by coercing their clients into unethical behaviour? ;)

Heehee! It's usually a case of group involvement of unethical behaviour! For someone who doesn't realize that secs is a shortened word, my notes are actually quite funny. I think you should adapt this secs business. It would keep your underemployed mind amused with the unethical behaviour of the secs industry.

I could. I'm just thinking of what my mother would say..."You know if you write like that, you'll start to think like that"...blah blah blah. Little does she know that group secs issues are quite common these days. haha wait! I think I made no sense. oh well. Perhaps we should be "studying" @ Starbucks??

After all this secs talk, I am getting kinda hungry. I've got three pages left in this sub-section, so after that let's get out of here. That would be enough studying for today, don't you think? Oh, and that group secs sentence made perfect sense! I also think I've found my next blog entry. Lemme just finish this part on the secs commission and we'll go "study" at Starbuck's.

Ok, I too have 3 pgs left though I may need an extra few mins. What's 20/12 x 3?

Extra few mins is good. We study well together, don't we? I think that mabe we should get into the secs industry together too! (Hahahaaa). 20 x 3 = 60 & 60/12 = 5.

Hehe - ok so I figured out the answer was five - hence the erased bit, but I didn't think it would take me 5x longer to read the 3 pages so I figured we needed to factor in the # of mins we spent reading earlier. It was then that I decided I was too lazy to complete the calculation. What else is new? I'm lazy, I know.

Now I'm reading about the key players involved in secs regulation. This is getting shadier by the minute!

So shady...Menage a trois in the CPH? this has sexual harassment written all over it. Are there 2 r's in harassment? hmmm. I'm done my chapter. Oh yes, and that last pass was shady.

My apologies for the last pass - I was overwhelmed by the secs regulation part. Shall we go?

The pass comment was about passing the note paper back and forth, during that last pass I kind of threw it over to Grishma and the paper fell to the ground. She thought that was shady. She thinks everything is shady. I must agree with her on one part...our whole study session was shady.
