Taking a Quarter
I'm making a huge change in my life. I've decided to take a three month leave of absence from work to focus on me. I've been working with this company for about six years now and I needed a break. I've always put in long hours at my job and it was wearing down on me. So...my three months start April 2nd!
At first, I felt pretty guilty about doing this. I feel a certain responsibility towards my job and my colleagues - especially being in management and often being put in a position where you have to work short-staffed. So I felt bad for putting my manager in such a position. I was feeling like I was abandoning my workplace in pursuit of a selfish motive. Gradually, however, I started to realize that this is something I need to do for myself and my sanity. I love my job but there were days when I'd truly think about what I was doing there and why I was wasting my time. Now I no longer feel guilty for taking this time off - I'm actually getting pretty excited.
I have compiled a short list of my to-do's for the next three months...here it is (not necessarily in priority order):
- school
- gym
- having fun in downtown Vancouver ;)
Who knows...I might be having so much fun that I might decide to extend my leave!
